Marvel’s Heroes celebrate the NBA Champion…Miami Heat?

Those of you that are more sports inclined know full well that this year’s NBA Champions are the Dallas Mavericks, who dispatched the Miami Heat in six games (it really wasn’t even that close). It was a stunning upset for a team that was expected to go all-the-way when they added Chris Bosh and LeBron James along side superstar Dwayne Wade to the team last off-season, but Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd and the gang proved too damn strong for them and, well, basically ruined their summer vacation. Marvel’s not making the Heat’s break any easier.

Farhan Abdullah was browsing a Miami area WalMart today and snapped this pic of a piece of merchandise that was probably meant to be sent to a third-world country, not the show room floor.

Marvel Congratulates the Miami Heat!

Sorry, Hulk — you backed the wrong team.

Thanks to Farhan for letting us reprint his photo and to Kate Stanton for the bringing it to our attention!

Sadly they don’t even send those shirts to third world countries… they are destroyed. Then again, Miami has always existed in it’s own little world….

pathetic

Like Tony Stark says ‘I’ll drink to that. Again and again and again.”

No… most do go to 3rd world countries from my experience. I work in college apparel and we send tons of stuff through different mission services once we get the go ahead from the licenser. Once I had a friend go to Africa on a mission trip with his church and he snapped pictures of shirts we are pretty sure came from the company I work for– given the teams represented.

Er, yes they do Johnson. All the major leagues have systems in place to send clothing and other materials from the losing team to 3rd world countries. Quit spouting shite.

Marvel isn’t the only one who got caught. Macy’s ran an ad in Miami saying Heat Championship t-shirts for sale (about $20) the day after they lost. Yay for early ad’s!

I can’t believe they still have those shirts in stock from 2006

Well there was a Lebron James day where everyone got the last 12 minutes of work off. That;s what usually leads to this stuff.

There was a collectible store near where I went to college that sold shirts like this. They also had posters that were printed in case a team made say the Super Bowl. Interesting stuff.

[...] This isn’t the first time that Marvel has crossed over into the world of sports merchandise. Marvel characters have appeared on several NBA shirts, including the Hulk on a Celtics shirt and of course the infamous one for the (cough, cough) world champion Miami Heat. [...]
