Lila gets her ice cream.

Finishing up at Vault of Midnight with… Superman!

The take!

Freebies plus Chi.

Within the Vault

Form an orderly queue.

Line up outside Vault of Midnight

Our Ann Arbor shop also has free ice cream and deals with local businesses for FCBD

The Next Generation

Vault’s crowd included many younger readers.

Ann Arbor’s Vault of Midnight

Vault of Midnight drew a good crowd, due in part to free ice cream right outside and two charity walks running through town.

Picking out free comics at Brainstorm

This is at my local. Good times!

Had to fight Cubs traffic to get here—don’t they know it’s FCBD?

Rounding out the day at Third Coast

On hand at Third Coast were Femforce artist Scott Larson and comics legend Len Strazewski.
Five comics shops in three hours, by bike. Chicago is awesome.

Comic Vault

Eisner-nominated Comic Vault held a raffle for Amazing Spider-Man #1 and hosted signings by Tom Stillwell, Jim Terry, and Jeff Balke. A documentary crew from U. Chicago also stopped by earlier in the day. Missed my chance to be immortalized on film by ~that~ much!

Chicago Comics!

Chicago Comics is where the cool kids go. Nice big classic store, and home of my only costume sighting this round.

Brainstorm!

Brainstorm in Chicago is my regular LCS. Free comics today, comics by the pound sale tomorrow. Big weekend.
Robert, pictured, is a famous rabble-rouser speaking out against the rising price of comics.

Challengers!

Challengers Comics on Western featured performances by the comics-inspired band Heroes for Hire, and of course Erik Larsen signing the new and free Savage Dragon. While none of the Chicago stores I visited had the sort of crowds witnessed by my colleagues, Challengers had a strong turnout for the entertainment.
